Since the time social media has found its base among people, especially Indians, there are a number of quotes about life which go around. I have often wondered how would have life been if social networking wasn\’t this popular. All these life facts and quotes would have still been there but I don\’t think anyone would have actually bothered to think so deep about it. These facts have made every other person a philosopher.

Anyway, coming back to what I was gonna write. So one among such quotes reads \”Everyone you meet in life is a lesson.\” True, isn\’t it? But have we ever wondered what a particular person have taught us? I think its only when we talk about a certain person in life to someone, we think about what he or she has taught us. Before I write further, let me confess this entry has an autobiographical touch. Oh wait, it isn\’t anything new.

Many people have came and went from all of our lives. The person we are today is largely because of the impact all of them have had in us. But when we think deep, most are changes which everyone should undergo to become a better person. I will list down three such lessons I have learned from one person.

1. You can live alone.

Yes. You really can live alone. Couple of days back I saw one of my very good friends post a quote which briefly says some people come into our lives to make us feel how we cannot live without them. While I agree to it, I must say if we are able to live without such a person, we can live without anyone. We can survive in an island all alone, we can survive in a flood (of course, you need to know a bit of swimming), we can survive anywhere in the world. Personally saying, there were months when I found my life stuck with someone and not moving ahead. But slowly I was getting used to a live without that person and now I know I am a better person.

2. Whatever you do for a special person is not going to increase their love for you.

Here I am sure people are not going to agree with me. But trust me, this is life. Once our role is over, a new character enters their stage and entertains them. At that time, they would hardly be caring for whatever the previous character has done for them, even if they are the protagonists. In Malayalam we say, അപ്പം  കാണുന്നവനെ  അപ്പന്‍  എന്ന്  വിളിക്കുന്ന  സ്വഭാവം. Well this is a common thought process to everyone, including me. Now the sad part; when people only remember the current character on stage and praise them high of everything they do!

3. Insult phrases are the best encouragement.

None of us can withstand insults. Some might just smile at it externally but internally, they could be bleeding. Well that is life. When insults come from people whom you don\’t know, it doesn\’t hurt that much. But when it comes from close ones, well it sure does cut you into two. Take it to heart. Take a deep breath. Give it a thought for one day. Self analyse whether it was true. More often that not, they are not true and that is why its called an insult. So what to do next? Prove them they are wrong. Trust me, there is no better than revenge than leading a happy life all smiling and being successful in front of them.

Easy to say all these, hard to put it in practical life.
