TIME – The Insufficient Material of Energy

A brilliant short film released couple of days back and I opened youtube to watch it. I got a call in between and therefore I left it for buffering. After the long call, just when I was about to press the play button in the video, I happened to check out the duration of the short film which said 29 minutes and few seconds. I realized that the next 29 minutes of my life will be gone watching this. I wished it would be worth it. I clicked the play button, leaned against the cot and started watching it. I watched again. Again. I watched it thrice and easily one and a half hours of my life was gone. It was worth it. That particular work has raised the standards of Malayalam short films.

This article is not about that short film or any other short film. Instead its about time. The seconds. We all watch different sort of videos. From nursery rhymes to porn. I am not sure about others but many times I have noticed the seconds ticking in the video bar. It was only two days back I realized with every passing second, a second of my life is also passing and it will never come back. Sometimes I lie on my bed and look at the clock on the wall. I try to time the seconds perfectly with the needle. Wasn\’t I counting every second of my life then? Time, my friends, passes faster than anything in this world. We decide to devote every second of our life to one or the other thing. We get committed to certain things. It can be sleeping, talking on phone, a day out with friends or family, a film, music; it can just be anything; ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING in this world. But my doubt is, are we realizing the value of time? Even when I type this right, I am losing my time in the world but I am not feeling bad about it since writing and blogging has become a part of me, something I love. I blog when I am in the ecstasy of an emotion. It can be either romance, happiness, nostalgia or when I feel really low with some strange fear inside me like now.

Not always we do stuffs which are worth the valuable seconds in life. I am not saying we should do something to make us proud 24 x 7, but don\’t always do unwanted, useless stuffs either. I have seen some of my juniors who are still in college lamenting about how they have wasted their three years without doing anything. I am not sure I agree with them much. They are studying. It is worth the time. Besides that, if you want to do something, just do it. Why do you hesitate? The world has advanced enough to make a name by yourself just sitting home. If you want to be out on the streets doing charity, you can do that as well. Nobody is going to stop you. There is no point regretting the time you have wasted because its not gonna help you. In fact there is no point regretting about anything in this world. Life is not cinema to have a retake. Coming back to the topic, I think its high time people realize and do stuffs which are worth their time. Every second should be seen preciously. You can have leisure time and enjoy life but don\’t just stress on it always. Remember, \”Your dream is your Signature\”.
