My little brother.

There are certain small things in life which we don\’t often see. Even if we see, we actually ignore it because we think they aren\’t that important. But the truth is that, those tiny things can make you happier than the ones you actually value more. One such thing is when you see your dog coming and sitting next to you when you feel low and cry.
This happened yesterday morning when I had some personal issues and I couldn\’t control my emotions. I was sitting on the steps of my house by around 11am with my eyes constantly getting filled. My dog, Sony, has been having a mild fever since two days and wasn\’t looking fine. When he came and sat next to me at that time, I thought its because he is not well and he needs some comfort. But I ignored him, still looking into my phone. He kept moving his head both the ways, rubbing my legs. I got annoyed but and moved my legs. He kept doing it again and I tapped on his head and asked him to keep quiet. He gave me a cold look and looked away. I heard some foot steps from behind and I bent my head down on my lap, not to let anyone know my eyes are teary. What next happened was something unimaginable. I could feel a drop or two running down my cheeks and Sony licked it off, came close to me and lied down with his forehands on my shoulder!! I was so touched that I regretted for scolding him a few seconds back. I hugged him tightly and took him on my shoulder like I always do. I carry him around like how babies are being carried around. I am still in awe of what he did yesterday morning.
When I think of it, I realize its not the first time he is showing his love and affection. Few years back when my grandma died, he was hardly one year old. He was tied behind the house when all the people were coming and ceremonies were taking place. As soon as he was untied, he ran at his full speed, ignoring everyone around, to my grandpa\’s room and smelled the cot where grandma slept the last time. He smelled the whole cot and jumped on top of it and sat on the pillow. He looked around before barking once and looked at grandpa. Sony, the little dog back then, spilled a tear drop! Grandpa, who was controlling his emotions all the time lost everything and broke down badly seeing this. I went to the room and made an attempt to take Sony out. But he wasn\’t just coming. He bite a towel which was lying on the bed and sat there. I finally had to put in all my energy to carry him away.
On one night, when my mom had her legs sprained and sleeping next to me, I told Sony if she wakes up at night and wake me up too. I just told him that simply. But around 2:30 or so, I felt some sensation on my feet. Something was tickling down and I opened up. I found him licking my feet. I thought he wanted to loo or maybe he was feeling sick. I gave him a look and he looked towards his right where I found amma awake and trying to get up from bed!
He is seven years old now and there has been lot and lot of such moments of affection and love from him. Having said all these, he is naughty and barks so loud when a small kid passes by. I still hate him for eating up my sandals when he was young! Oh well, he is my brother.
