Changing world. Changing life.

Only one year and three months has passed since I moved back to Trivandrum from Chennai. Before that for three years, I was in that city battling the heat. All through that three years the city has been changing with new traffic regulations being invented every other day. It didn\’t feel anything new, though, as it was just another daily chord. But last week on my most recent visit to Chennai I was surprised with the way the city has changed. The heat and traffic, of course, stays the same but the roads have become more tough to understand now. Metro has started running through seven points. You cant cut right into Anna nagar from Thirumangalam anymore. The skywalk entry and escalators have shuffled again. The list of changes goes on. I could hear the auto driver cribbing about the new traffic regulations. But when I think of some of the changes, I realize it is only for the betterment of human life in the city. They are making fly overs and metro to make life easier on the long term prospect. For that, the govt asks you adjust for sometime.
Not just in Chennai, but here in Trivandrum as well, some radical changes are taking place. In terms of transport the biggest work going on now is the Karamana – Kaliakkavilai National Highway widening. Its a project I have been hearing since I was born. Therefore I am glad to see the work going on at a good pace. Though, it would have been better to have an alternative before they cut short the already narrow road. But the priority here is long term investment. So what actually changes is the priority. The most interesting change I have seen in this city is something related to films. Before I went to Chennai, five years back, I would give Rs 100 to a theater and get back Rs 60 as balance. When I came back after three years, when I give Rs 100, I will get Rs 40 back! See the irony; the ticket fare and balance just swapped places. However now I don\’t get any balance back and in some theaters, I have to pay double of it.
\”You have changed\” is one of the most heard and used dialogues in daily life these days. It is just another funny dialogue, we come across. Everyone and everything change with time. What matters shouldn\’t be whether a person changed or not, instead whether the change is inflicting good results on you and your surroundings. That should be your priority, not the change you undergo. Every change you undergo should be for the betterment of your future. But the lesson I have learned is never change for anyone. If you change being yourself for someone, you will keep changing the whole life. Having said that, it is no sin to change your attitude towards someone whom you think is worth it.
From road transport to financial situation to human beings, change affects just about every field under the sky. Oh yeah, I changed the blog layout, texture and fonts as well. Drop in a comment may be to let me know what you think of it 🙂
